Kumasi Journalist Samuel Ofori Boateng Donates Mathematical Sets, Exercise Books, Pens, Pencils, and Uniforms to Schools in Amansie West

Renowned Kumasi-based journalist and native of Manso Atobrakrom, Mr. Samuel Ofori Boateng, has donated a variety of educational materials — including mathematical sets, exercise books, pens, pencils, and school uniforms — to support students of Atobrakrom D/A Primary and JHS and Omandwareɛ Primary and JHS in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.

The donation, made during a brief ceremony, is part of Mr. Ofori Boateng’s commitment to enhancing teaching and learning in his hometown. The mathematical sets were presented to all 2025 BECE candidates from Atobrakrom and Omandwareɛ Junior High Schools, while the exercise books, pens, pencils, and school uniforms were distributed to pupils of Atobrakrom D/A Primary School.

In his remarks, Mr. Ofori Boateng encouraged the students to take their studies seriously, urging the BECE candidates to aim high and make their community proud. He emphasized that where they come from should not be a limitation to their success.

“I grew up in this very community and today, through education, I’m able to stand where I am,” he said. “You too can achieve greatness if you believe in yourselves, work hard, and stay disciplined.”

He also cautioned the candidates against drug abuse, particularly the misuse of tramadol, which he described as a dangerous and rising threat to young people. “Stay away from tramadol and other harmful substances. Focus on your books, because education is your future,” he advised.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, Mr. Listowel Oppong Fosu, Headteacher of Atobrakrom D/A Primary School, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Ofori Boateng. He described the donation as a timely intervention that will motivate pupils and support academic performance. He further appealed to government agencies, NGOs, and philanthropists to help complete a teachers’ bungalow in the community to improve accommodation for staff.

Some of the BECE candidates who received the items also expressed their appreciation and pledged to study hard and pass their exams with distinction.

The donation has been widely praised by residents and education stakeholders, who see it as a shining example of giving back to one’s roots and investing in the next generation.
