Kofi Agyei Senior High Technical School in Crisis: Headmaster Appeals for Urgent Government Support

Kofi Agyei Senior High Technical School in the kwabere East municipality of the Ashanti Region  is facing severe infrastructure challenges, prompting its headmaster, Mr. Ebenezer Ofosu Aboagye, to make an urgent appeal for government intervention.

With a student population exceeding 3,000, the school lacks critical facilities, including computers and accessories, an expanded boys’ dormitory, and an assembly hall. These deficiencies, according to the headmaster, are severely affecting the quality of education.

Infrastructure Shortages Hindering Academic Excellence

The lack of an ICT center means students are deprived of essential digital literacy skills, putting them at a disadvantage in today’s technology-driven world. Additionally, the absence of an assembly hall makes it difficult to organize school meetings, examinations, and extracurricular activities.

The headmaster also highlighted the school’s unreliable electricity supply, which disrupts academic activities, especially evening studies and practical lessons.

Urgent Call for Government and Stakeholder Support

Mr. Aboagye emphasized that the situation is dire and called on the government, the Ministry of Education, and relevant stakeholders to act swiftly.

“Our students deserve better. We need urgent intervention to address these infrastructure gaps and create a conducive learning environment. If nothing is done soon, the situation will worsen, and academic performance will suffer,” he stated.

His appeal has reignited discussions about the broader infrastructure challenges facing Ghana’s education sector, particularly in rural and underprivileged communities. Many education advocates argue that schools like Kofi Agyei SHTS require immediate attention to bridge the gap in educational resources.

The Way Forward

While awaiting government intervention, Mr. Aboagye has also called on corporate organizations, NGOs, and the school’s alumni to assist in addressing the pressing needs. He expressed hope that a collective effort will help improve learning conditions and secure a brighter future for the students.

This developing story underscores the urgent need for equitable investment in Ghana’s education sector to ensure all students, regardless of location, have access to quality learning facilities.
