Kofi Adu Domfeh Declares Bid for GJA Ashanti Regional Chairmanship, Vows to Champion Ethical and Impactful Journalism

Veteran environmental journalist and News Editor at the Multimedia Group, Kofi Adu Domfeh, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Chairperson of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the Ashanti Region. His announcement has stirred considerable interest within the media fraternity, especially among journalists who have followed his decades-long contribution to the profession.

With over 20 years of experience in the Ghanaian media landscape, Mr. Domfeh has built a reputation as a passionate advocate for ethical journalism, social impact reporting, and the professional development of journalists. His work, particularly in environmental reporting and developmental journalism, has earned him national and international recognition.

In a statement announcing his decision, Mr. Domfeh emphasized his desire to reposition the GJA in the Ashanti Region as a vibrant, proactive body that upholds journalistic integrity, promotes continuous training, and actively engages in issues of regional and national development.

“I am offering myself to serve, with the goal of uniting journalists across the region under a common purpose — to raise the standards of our profession and to ensure that the Association becomes a strong pillar of support for practitioners,” he said.

Mr. Domfeh underscored the need to build a GJA that not only protects the interests of its members but also equips them with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving media landscape. He pledged to champion capacity-building initiatives, advocate for improved working conditions, and create platforms for collaboration between media practitioners and stakeholders in governance, education, business, and civil society.

As a long-serving media personality, Mr. Domfeh has mentored many young journalists and led several initiatives aimed at using journalism as a tool for environmental sustainability and social change. He has represented Ghana in international media development programmes and is a known voice in environmental advocacy and responsible resource governance.

His candidature has already attracted endorsements from colleagues and stakeholders who see him as a transformational leader with a clear vision for the GJA in the Ashanti Region.

The Ashanti Regional elections of the GJA are expected to be keenly contested, but many believe Kofi Adu Domfeh’s rich experience, credibility, and commitment to public interest journalism place him in a strong position to lead.

As the campaign unfolds, members of the Association will be looking to hear more about his plans and the practical steps he intends to take to rejuvenate the GJA in one of the most vibrant media regions in the country.
