As part of the implementation of the HORESD project 1000 plus waste containers of various sizes to be distributed soon within the metropolis.
In line with segregating waste at the community level, the Assembly has organised an awareness creation for waste pickers ( plastics, papers, glasses) among others along the circular economy value change.
The participants were made aware of monetary support for them under this project and the best way to go about their work.
The support can go as far as THREE THOUSAND EUROS (3000.00) for an individual or group of waste pickers.
The amount is for five people or groups who present creative ways or ideas that he /she can use the funds to turn the waste into for the betterment of society.
In order for the Assembly to select these beneficiaries a competition has been launched for anyone in these trades to present creative ideas in a form of a business plan.
The forms ( not for sale) can be picked at KMA, Hon. Members, Sub-Metro Offices , Hello FM and Opemso) Radio in the month of June, 2023.
The Assembly recommended to the participants to form groups and associations in Kumasi inorder for them (waste pickers) to have a voice to press home their demands.
This is part of the vision of the mayor Hon. Samuel Pyne
