Eugene Amo-Asamoah Wins Youth in Environment Award at 2025 Millennium Excellence Awards

In recognition of his exceptional leadership and innovation in the environmental sustainability space, Eugene Amo-Asamoah, Business Development Manager of the Kumasi Compost and Recycling Plant (KCARP), has been honoured with the Youth in Environment Award at the 2025 Millennium Excellence Awards held at the Manhyia Palace.
The awards, organized by the Millennium Excellence Foundation under the patronage of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, celebrate individuals whose outstanding contributions are shaping Ghana’s future across diverse sectors. Eugene’s award is regarded as one of the highest honours for young professionals impacting environmental development.
At the forefront of sustainable waste management in Ghana and beyond, Eugene has earned nationwide admiration for his transformative work with KCARP—the largest compost and recycling plant in Africa. He has led groundbreaking projects that combine climate action with socio-economic empowerment, demonstrating how waste can be converted into a powerful tool for development.
Eugene’s portfolio includes the design and execution of waste management frameworks for institutions, offering consultancy and technical support to both government bodies and private companies. His commitment to environmentally sound practices has contributed to cleaner cities, empowered communities, and increased awareness about responsible waste handling.
Speaking after receiving the award, a visibly humbled Eugene said: “I am deeply honoured and grateful to receive the Youth in Environment Award. My sincere thanks go to His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Millennium Excellence Foundation for this recognition.”
He continued: “I also express my profound gratitude to Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group, for his unwavering mentorship and support, and to all my team members and family—especially my wife and children—for their sacrifices and encouragement.”
Eugene used the platform to call for national unity in addressing environmental challenges. “We must all take responsibility for our environment. Let’s work together—government, private sector, communities, and individuals—to create a sustainable future for the next generation.”
The Millennium Excellence Foundation described Eugene as an inspirational figure for young Ghanaians and commended him for demonstrating that passion, innovation, and leadership can drive national progress in environmental protection.
The colourful event brought together dignitaries from the traditional leadership, business, academia, and civil society sectors. Eugene’s award capped a night dedicated to celebrating visionaries and trailblazers shaping Ghana’s development story.
