Kasoa Taskforce Commissioned to Lead Rebranding Drive — MP Vows to Make Town a Model Municipality

In a major step toward transforming Kasoa into a cleaner, safer, and investment-friendly city, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Hon. Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, has officially commissioned the Awutu Senya East Municipal Taskforce.

The colourful event, held at the forecourt of the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly, was marked by a well-coordinated display of discipline and readiness by the newly-formed taskforce, which mounted a guard of honour inspected by the MP and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Seth Sabah Sewornoo-Banini.

In her keynote address, Hon. Okunor reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to rebranding Kasoa and making it a beacon of urban development in Ghana. According to her, the commissioning of the municipal taskforce is a strategic move to decongest the Central Business District, improve sanitation, and restore order within the fast-growing municipality.

“I envision a Kasoa that is clean, safe, and economically active—one that draws investors and provides jobs for our youth,” the MP stated. “This is not a task that government alone can accomplish. It requires the collective efforts of our chiefs, opinion leaders, traders, and residents to bring this vision to life.”

She urged members of the taskforce to carry out their duties with professionalism, integrity, and a sense of purpose, noting that their conduct will significantly influence the success of the rebranding mission.

Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Seth Sabah Sewornoo-Banini, used the occasion to address public concerns about the role of the taskforce. He clarified that the taskforce is not a punitive force but rather an organizational tool to streamline trading activities, reduce congestion, and ensure law and order in the municipality.

“I want to assure our market women, traders, and residents that this taskforce is here to support—not to harass,” he said. “The aim is to create a better working and living environment for everyone in Kasoa.”

The MCE further stressed that the Assembly will continue to engage all stakeholders, including transport unions and traditional authorities, to ensure smooth implementation of the new urban rebranding agenda.

Taskforce Commander, Nana Adeiso Asupram IV, pledged the commitment of his men to high standards of integrity, discipline, and public service. He warned against acts of corruption and heavy-handedness, reminding his team that the ultimate objective of their work is to improve lives and promote fairness in municipal governance.

“We are here to serve—not to intimidate,” he emphasized. “Any officer who goes against our ethical code will be dealt with accordingly. We are here for the collective good.”

The event attracted a cross-section of the community, including Assembly Members, religious leaders, traditional authorities, youth groups, and market leaders, all of whom welcomed the initiative and pledged their support.

With this decisive move, the Awutu Senya East Municipality appears poised to usher in a new era of discipline, development, and economic revitalization, as Kasoa takes deliberate steps to shed its chaotic image and emerge as one of Ghana’s most promising urban centres.
