Kasoa Launches Municipal Taskforce to Drive Urban Transformation — MP Declares War on Indiscipline and Disorder

In a bold initiative aimed at restoring order and reshaping the image of Kasoa, the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly has officially commissioned a new municipal taskforce, with a mandate to decongest the town, enforce sanitation by-laws, and support the overall rebranding of the fast-developing municipality.
The event, held in Kasoa, was graced by the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Seth Sabah Sewornoo-Banini. The occasion featured a ceremonial guard of honour mounted by the newly formed taskforce, which was inspected by the MP and the MCE.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Okunor reaffirmed her commitment to transforming Kasoa into a modern, investor-friendly, and crime-free municipality. She said the taskforce would play a crucial role in sanitising the town, enforcing municipal regulations, and helping position Kasoa as a key destination for economic growth and job creation.
“I am determined to change the face of Kasoa,” the MP declared. “This city has the potential to become a major industrial and commercial hub if we work together to restore order, cleanliness, and discipline. The taskforce is a first step in that direction.”
She emphasised that the initiative was not just about enforcement, but also about building a city that inspires pride and hope among its people, especially the youth. “We are setting the foundation for a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Kasoa—one that attracts investors and gives our youth opportunities to thrive,” she added.
The MP called on all residents, especially traders, transport operators, and market women, to support the efforts of the taskforce and work in unity to achieve the broader goal of municipal transformation.
For his part, MCE Mr. Seth Sabah Sewornoo-Banini assured the public that the taskforce would operate with fairness and respect for human dignity. He dismissed fears of harassment, stressing that the team would be guided by professionalism and accountability.
“This is not about oppression or intimidation,” the MCE stated. “It is about organising our environment, improving trading conditions, and making Kasoa more liveable for all. The taskforce is here to assist, not to punish.”
He noted that the Assembly would continue to engage with key stakeholders, including community leaders and trade associations, to ensure that the work of the taskforce is understood and embraced by all.
Taskforce Commander, Nana Adeiso Asupram IV, warned his officers against any form of misconduct. He stressed that the team had a duty to act with discipline, integrity, and transparency in all their operations.
“We will not tolerate abuse of power or corruption of any kind,” he cautioned. “Our job is to serve the people and support the Assembly in building a better Kasoa for current and future generations.”
The commissioning ceremony attracted a wide range of attendees, including Assembly Members, opinion leaders, traditional rulers, security personnel, and representatives from the market and transport sectors.
The launch of the municipal taskforce marks a new chapter in the efforts of the Awutu Senya East Municipality to bring order and dignity to Kasoa, a bustling town that has long battled issues of congestion, indiscipline, and urban sprawl. With political will and community support now aligned, expectations are high for a transformed and rebranded Kasoa.
