The mobile money (momo) and airtime transfer business has become one common hustle for most unemployed graduates who are willing to make money legally. In Kasoa, most of the youth have developed the will to venture into this business, in order to generate something cool to cater for themselves.
Mobile Money, since it’s inception, has created a lot of uncomfortability on the side of the service renders. New reports reaching us claim that 2 Nigerians have finally been given a 20-year jail term with hard labour, after they robbed a Momo agent two years ago.
In-depth story:
The momo agent had been notified by some customers to cash out huge sums of money from him. To render his regular service to his customers, he visited a nearby Bank on 17th May 2020, to cash out the money right from the Bank.
On his motor with the money he cashed out (GH¢ 11,800), he realised from his side mirror that he was being stalked by another motor behind him. With his intention to save himself and the money, he decided to move straight to the Kasoa New Market Police Station to make a complaint. In his attempt to initiate a curve on the road, his motor stopped suddenly and was robbed by the Nigerians on the motor which stalked him from the Bank.
He screamed helplessly for help and so the robbers were also chased by these helpers. These robbers were finally caught and arrested immediately after they were chased.
The case was handed over to the Kasoa New Market Police Station, for investigation. Since then, there have been several court sittings on this case.
Yesterday, on 29th September, 2022, His Lordship Ebenezer Osei Darko ruled the case against the Nigerian robbers after several months of investigation. On ruling, both robbers were given 20 years imprisonment each, with hard labour.
