The Late Obaaa Yaa Asantewaa, Ashanti district women’s Organiser of GNASSM
Ashanti District of the Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners (GNASSM) has been hit by a very unpleasant news as one of its key members has suddenly joined the ancestors.
The late member, until her demise had been so pivotal in most of the association’s activities. Obaa Yaa, as was affectionately called, was the Ashanti District women’s organizer of the association.
Confirming the sad news to this reporter, Mr. Michael Adu Gyamfi, the Ashanti District secretary of GNASSM expressed shock over the abrupt demise of their member. According to him, Obaa Yaa Asantewaa was looking healthy and active during the association’s end of year fundraising and awards night held about two days ago at the Golden Tulip hotel in Kumasi.
He however revealed that Yaa Asantewaa had been recovering from a suspected mild-stroke she suffered some months ago.
He said members of the association had been thrown into a state of shock and putting pieces together to find clues to puzzle what has precipitated her shocking departure.
It is further revealed that the body has since been deposited at the Obuasi government hospital Mogue for an autopsy.
