Juaso Senior High Technical School Appeals for Urgent Support at 40th Anniversary Celebration
Juaso Senior High Technical School in the Asante Akyem South Municipality has made a passionate appeal for urgent infrastructural support as the institution marks its 40th Anniversary. The milestone celebration, held on the school premises under the theme “40 Years of Educating, Inspiring and Empowering for National Development,” brought together dignitaries, alumni, parents, staff, and students to reflect on the school’s journey and chart a path forward.

Delivering her anniversary address, the Headmistress, Mrs. Ishmaelia Crentsil, outlined a series of major infrastructure deficits that continue to impede effective teaching and learning. She disclosed that the school’s boys’ dormitory block has deteriorated significantly, posing discomfort and safety concerns for the students. She added that the dining hall is too small to accommodate the growing student population, while the kitchen lacks the essential equipment needed to prepare meals efficiently.

Mrs. Crentsil further lamented the absence of a school bus, a challenge that affects academic trips, competitions, and general administrative mobility. She also pointed out that staff accommodation remains insufficient, forcing many teachers to commute long distances daily. With no assembly hall on campus, gatherings, examinations, and official ceremonies are held under makeshift conditions, often disrupted by weather.

The Headmistress also drew attention to the poor state of washroom facilities, the inadequate number of computers and ICT tools, and the lack of an effective drainage system, which results in flooding during the rainy season. She added that the school’s unreliable water supply continues to affect both academic work and boarding activities. According to her, these challenges—if left unaddressed—risk undermining the progress that the school has made over the past four decades.

She therefore appealed to government agencies, NGOs, corporate institutions, philanthropists, and especially past students to support the school with resources to help improve its infrastructure. She emphasized that Juaso Senior High Technical School has played a vital role in national development since its establishment, producing responsible and skilled individuals who continue to contribute to society. Strengthening the school’s facilities, she said, will empower it to deliver even better results in the years ahead.

Addressing the celebration, the Member of Parliament for the Asante Akyem South Constituency, Hon. Kwaku Asante Boateng, urged students to stay focused on their academic pursuits despite the challenges. He encouraged them to uphold discipline, hard work, and determination, reminding them that education remains the most reliable pathway to a brighter future. He assured the school of his continuous support and called on other stakeholders to rally behind the institution’s development efforts.

The 40th Anniversary celebration ended with renewed hope and unity of purpose, as all stakeholders pledged to work together to restore and improve the school’s infrastructure for the benefit of current and future generations.
