Juaben Rural Bank Commits to 40,000-Tree Green Banking Initiative

Juaben Rural Bank PLC has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability by launching an ambitious 40,000-tree Green Banking Initiative as part of its corporate social responsibility programs. The initiative aims to protect, restore, and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems while supporting national efforts toward environmental conservation.

Board Chairman’s Report

Delivering the Board Chairman’s report at the Bank’s 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankawoso I welcomed shareholders, traditional authorities, invited guests, and the press. He highlighted the Bank’s strong financial performance for the year ended 31st December 2024, including a profit after taxation of GH¢8,748,424.00

Nana Dr. Dankawoso I also outlined the Bank’s commitment to community development, education, health, and security projects, with a total investment of GH¢298,701.00 during the year. He emphasized that the Green Banking Initiative complements these efforts, aligning with the Bank’s goal of positively impacting communities while safeguarding the environment.

Progress of the Green Initiative

According to the Chairman, over 10,000 trees have already been planted in the first year of the initiative, and these are currently thriving. The program will continue over the coming years to reach the 40,000-tree target, helping to mitigate climate change, improve biodiversity, and enhance the quality of life in surrounding communities. Nana Dr. Dankawoso I stressed the importance of the initiative, noting the widely recognized adage: “When the last tree dies, the last man dies.”

CEO’s Remarks

Following the Chairman’s address, CEO Mr Augustine Awere expressed gratitude to customers, stakeholders, and staff for their continued support. He explained that the Bank’s focus goes beyond profit-making, emphasizing initiatives like tree planting to foster sustainable development and national growth.

Mr Awere also revealed that Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Omanhene of the Juaben Traditional Area, donated 12 plots of land to facilitate community development projects, including the construction of a well-equipped market. He concluded by wishing all stakeholders, customers, and staff a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
