Jomoro MP overwhelmed as supporters sponsor re-election bid

Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency Dorcas Affo-Toffey has expressed gratitude to some unknown supporters who have pledged to pay for her filing fee ahead of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries.

She said the gesture gives her courage and support, promising to work for the constituents as their MP and political leader.

The contributors of the GH¢20,000 filing fee consist of farmers, traders, teachers, executives and businessmen and businesswomen.

Their gesture comes after a philanthropist, Paul Nyamekeh, paid for the GH¢5,000 nomination forms picked on her behalf on Wednesday, February 22.

“Let me say how overwhelmed I am when I heard the move by these individuals, especially, Mr. Paul Nyamekeh, who hails from Bonyere but resides at Jaway Wharf, who paid a whopping GH¢5,000 nomination form,” she wrote on her official Facebook page.

“This gives me courage and support from people of Jomoro and I will promise to work for you as your MP and political leader.

“My gratitude also goes to the traders and admirers who are making such contributions to pay for my filing fee, many of who I do not know personally.”

Madam Affo-Toffey won the 2020 seat but was dragged to court over a case of dual citizenship.

The Sekondi High Court in November, 2022, however, dismissed the petition brought against her.
