The Paramount Chief of the Jaaman Traditional Area, Nnaa Professor Lanjagor Karley II, has recently paid a courtesy call on Vice Admiral Issah Yakubu, the Chief of Naval Staff of the Ghana Navy, to congratulate him on his promotion to the highest rank within the naval forces.
During the visit, Nnaa Professor Lanjagor Karley II seized the opportunity to discuss various pressing issues affecting his traditional area, particularly the need for enhanced security along the region’s water bodies. The paramount chief emphasized the critical role that the Ghana Navy could play in ensuring the protection of water resources and combating illegal activities such as illegal fishing and encroachment.
The meeting, which took place at the Navy Headquarters, also focused on the importance of a strong partnership between the Navy and traditional authorities to address these security challenges. Nnaa Professor Lanjagor Karley II expressed his commitment to working closely with the Navy in securing the region’s water bodies and ensuring the safety of local residents who depend on them for their livelihoods.
Vice Admiral Issah Yakubu welcomed the chief’s visit and thanked him for his congratulations. He assured the paramount chief of the Ghana Navy’s readiness to collaborate with the local community in safeguarding the region’s maritime security and supporting sustainable development efforts. He further noted that the Navy would continue to strengthen its cooperation with traditional leaders to improve the security and prosperity of the Savannah Region.
