It’s Ideas, Not Money, That Will Transform Ghana — Bawumia Appeals for Votes in Ketu South

Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on Ghanaians to place their trust in his leadership, emphasizing that transformative ideas, rather than money, are the key to Ghana’s development.

Addressing a large gathering of party supporters in Ketu South on Friday, Dr. Bawumia outlined his vision for a future of innovation, economic opportunity, and inclusive growth. He urged citizens to look beyond current economic challenges and focus on the ideas and reforms he has championed.

“Have confidence in me. You have seen what I can do as Vice President. If you make me President with the power, I will bring ‘Abrokyire’ to Ghana here,” Dr. Bawumia told the crowd. He stressed that “it is not the money in your pocket that will allow you to transform Ghana. It is the ideas in your head.”

Dr. Bawumia highlighted key achievements during his tenure as Vice President, particularly in the digital and financial sectors. He cited the expansion and interoperability of mobile money services in Ghana as a prime example of his transformative initiatives.

“If you had MTN, you couldn’t move money to someone with Vodafone or Airtel. You couldn’t transfer funds from your bank account to your MoMo account. I said it was possible for us to do it in Ghana—and we have done it,” he stated, pointing to the seamless integration of mobile financial services as a catalyst for economic activity.

The Vice President further revealed that the mobile money sector has been a significant source of employment creation. “When we came, MoMo agents were 107,000. Today, they are 900,000. We have created 800,000 jobs,” he noted, highlighting how technology-driven policies can directly benefit ordinary Ghanaians.

Dr. Bawumia’s address in Ketu South forms part of his nationwide campaign to secure the NPP flagbearership, underscoring a platform built on innovation, financial inclusion, and sustainable development. He urged Ghanaians to trust his experience and proven track record to lead the country toward a future of progress and opportunity.
