IRC Ghana Re-affirmed commitment in supporting gov’t on WASH Service delivery system

IRC Ghana has Re-affirmed commitment in supporting government’s to put in the needed system and structures to drive the delivery of Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) services in the country.
Madam Vida Duti, Country Director of IRC Ghana disclosed this at the 35th MOLE Conference organized by the Coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS) in Ho, the Volta regional capital, on the general theme, “Looking Back on SDG 6 Implementation in Ghana: Progress, Challenges, and Ways Forward.
The four main thematic subjects are institutional alignments and policies, approaches, strategies, and methods towards attainment of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG6) in Ghana.
The institutions and organisations participating in the five-day MOLE35 Conference are the GAMA/GKMA Sanitation and Water Project, IRC Ghana, World Vision Ghana, and the Media Coalition Against Open Defecation (M-CODe).
She explained that IRC Ghana, International Reference Center, evolve now Reference Center supporting the Netherlands government, World Health Organization (WHO) to become international and operating in many other countries.
According to her, CONIWAS through the MOLE Conference play a critical role in working in the promoted areas ensuring that they bring water to the last mile.
She said the key role is complementing government’s efforts in getting services to the hard to reach areas.
She moreover, lauded CONIWAS for the good work they are doing in the sector and would continue to provide the needed support to them in driving the laudable agenda.
Madam Duti disclosed that IRC Ghana is one of the NGOs in the sector supporting the governance and delivery of WASH services, say their main focus is to supporting government’s and other development partners and stakeholders in the sector to strengthen the system for delivery water service.
She expressed the view that the system is the policies they have in place for delivery of water services can be effective, looking around strategies on how to do planing and monitor and also how as a sector learn and adapt to improve the delivery of the services they are being supporting coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation.
According to her, they understand that for them to be able to deliver services, they need to bring different actors together from time to time share learning and to improve on how they do things, support in the knowledge documentation to make it available, to ensure that people have the knowledge and understanding what is in their documents.
She expressed the view that they would be able to apply the document well and also interested in proper coordination of the sector where actors come together align the way they do things in other to bring more effectiveness in the delivery of their work as a way of growing the sector through dialogue.
