Infrastructure Boost: Bosome Freho District Gets New Teachers’ Accommodation, NHIA Office and Agric Department Building

The Bosome Freho District Assembly has delivered a major boost to infrastructure development with the commissioning of three significant projects aimed at improving public service delivery in education, healthcare, and agriculture. The District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Charles Appiah-Kubi, led the official unveiling of the facilities on Wednesday, November 27, 2025, during separate ceremonies held at Adeito and Asiwa.

The new facilities include a four-unit single-room residential accommodation for teachers at Adeito, a modern office complex for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), and a newly constructed office for the Department of Agriculture, both located at Asiwa, the administrative capital of the district. These projects were formally handed over to their respective beneficiary institutions, marking another milestone in the Assembly’s development agenda.

In his address to community members, traditional authorities, government officials, and staff of the beneficiary departments, Hon. Appiah-Kubi underscored the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the district’s infrastructure. He emphasized that the newly commissioned projects were part of a broader strategy to expand access to essential social services and improve the overall quality of life for residents.

At Adeito, the DCE highlighted the teachers’ accommodation project as a vital intervention designed to help address the persistent challenge of low teacher numbers in rural schools. He explained that the absence of decent accommodation has discouraged teachers from accepting postings to remote communities, negatively affecting teaching and learning outcomes. He expressed optimism that the new facility would attract more teachers to the area and help improve academic performance.

Hon. Appiah-Kubi assured the gathering that the Assembly would continue to collaborate closely with the District Education Directorate to increase teacher deployment to the communities that need them most. He encouraged parents, school authorities, and residents to support teachers by creating a welcoming and conducive environment for their work.

At Asiwa, the commissioning of the new NHIA office was met with enthusiasm, as the facility is expected to significantly improve access to essential health insurance services. Hon. Appiah-Kubi noted that the building would bring NHIS operations closer to residents, reducing the stress and cost associated with travelling long distances for registration, card renewals, and claims processing. He stressed that the improved accessibility would help strengthen the district’s healthcare delivery system and ensure that more residents benefit from the national health insurance scheme.

He also inaugurated the Department of Agriculture office, which he described as critical to supporting farmers across the district. The new facility will enhance administrative efficiency and enable agricultural officers to provide timely extension services, technical support, and modern farming interventions. The DCE urged officers of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) to take full advantage of the improved working environment to better serve the farming community.

Throughout his remarks, Hon. Appiah-Kubi emphasized the importance of regular maintenance of all the newly commissioned facilities. He urged traditional leaders, community members, and beneficiary staff to foster a sense of ownership and responsibility, warning that without proper care, the gains made through government investment would not be sustained. He pledged the Assembly’s continuous support toward further development initiatives while appealing to residents to protect the facilities.

The commissioning ceremonies were attended by chiefs, assembly members, farmers, public servants, and community stakeholders, many of whom expressed their gratitude to the District Assembly for addressing key infrastructural needs. They pledged their commitment to collaborate with the Assembly to maintain the facilities and support ongoing development efforts.

The Bosome Freho District Assembly says it remains focused on delivering projects that directly impact residents’ lives, with plans underway to roll out additional initiatives aimed at strengthening education, healthcare, agriculture, and local governance across the district.
