The Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA) has indicated that, government should increase fares for transport operators or reduce the fuel price to reduce the beding of drivers in the country.
According to the union, the 2021 budget contains a number of taxes that will affect their operations hence the decision.
The aggressive drivers added that, the suspension of vehicle income tax and increases of fuel price and increases of other taxes will affect the transport operators, this because the amount involved it is far far behind.
Addressing the press by the Ashanti Regional chairman of Progressive Transport Operaters Association (PROTOA), Mr Joseph Mensah, the budget presentation last Friday, the Caretaker Finance Minister, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu stated that petroleum prices will increase by 5.7% at the various pumps together with an increase in road tolls will not help drivers to achieve their goals.
He explained that the new tax on the Sanitation and Pollution Levy is to fund efforts to investment in the areas of sanitation and pollution.
He then adviced the floating drivers to join any Union so that they will all team together.
