The third accused in the ambulance trial, Richard Jakpa has told an Accra High Court that prior to his lawyers filing a submission of no case, he had privately met the Attorney-General to make a case for his acquittal since he was innocent.

He told the court while under cross-examination by DPP Yvonne Attakorah Obuobisa, that he had taken the contact of the A-G to thank Mr Dame for assisting him to secure his bail.

He narrated that together with the first accused, they are innocent and the only person who had a case to answer is Dr Sylvester Anemana.

But the A-G assured him that the first accused, Ato Forson was the target, but he would get him acquitted at the submission of no case stage.

Richard Jakpa further told the court that former Finance Minister Seth Terkper and Sherry Ayittey contributed to the current state of affairs.

“In 2017 I went on Joy FM to discuss how Seth Terkper had sabotaged the ambulance trial. Ato Forson called in to defend his boss and I exchanged words with Ato Forson and told him to stick to his parliamentary work because Hon Seth Terkper started sabotaging this project right from the time he was Deputy Minister of Finance.

“I told him on radio to get his boss to come and respond to me.

“I told Attorney-General that because of this as of July 17, 2022, that he should make me the prosecution witness to expose Seth Terkper and Sherry Ayittey.” Jakpa noted.
