A suspect, Akinyosoye Franklin, who was found with human skull and arrested by Ondo State Police Command, has expressed frustration and regret on the failure of the charm the item was meant for.
The suspect said that all he wanted to was to boost his business and have fortune.
Franklin, along with two others, Oyegoke Dare and Oyelade Sarafa, who were arrested over the same case, were among suspects paraded last Friday.
The command’s spokeswoman, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Jesubiyi at the briefing, said that on August 6, it was reported at Fagun Division that Franklin was found with human skull.
Before the discovery, the 26-year-old suspect who claimed to be a photographer and a boutique owner in Ondo town was challenged by his landlord for keeping a bag in a corner of the compound.
The landlord, who was suspicious, reportedly asked Franklin to open the bag, which he did, exposing a human skull kept in it.
“After he was arrested, he claimed it was given to him by a native doctor in Osun State,” the PPRO said.
When interrogated, the suspect opened up and revealed the names of his accomplices.
This, according to the image maker, led to the arrest of a self-acclaimed evangelist, Dare, and a herbalist, Sarafa.
SP Odunlami said that efforts were ongoing to apprehend two other suspects said to be involved but currently at large.
In an interview, Franklin admitted being found with the human skull in his rented apartment located at Elewuro area of the community.
Saying that his landlord had no knowledge of it, he admitted owning all the items found in his possession. He disclosed that he got all the items from his herbalist who resides in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State, adding that his aim was to boost his photography and boutique businesses.
He said: “I am a photographer and I own a boutique as well. It was last year that my uncle took me to a herbalist. I explained to him that my business wasn’t doing well, so he asked me to pay N200,000 to make concoction, for which I paid within three weeks.
“After he was done, he called me to come and pick the concoctions he had prepared. That was in November, last year. He directed that I should be bathing with the human skull every Thursday at exactly 1am. I used it for a month but didn’t see any difference in my business. So, I had to call the herbalist and told him to refund my money.
“I also asked him to come and pick the human head as well but he refused to do so. He had started refunding my money and had already sent me N20,000. I decided to go and throw the skull away. I put it in a bag and dropped it at my backyard.
“I went out, but before my return, my landlord’s children saw it and informed their father who called the police.
“After our arrest, the herbalist claimed that he paid someone to get the human head.”
In his confession, Dare admitted giving the human skull and other fetish materials to Franklin Sarafa. He revealed that he was the one who helped him in procuring the skull from one Asekun, a vigilante in Ikirun.
