A horrifying tragedy has struck the quiet community of Nweneso No. 2 in the Amasie West District, as an 18-year-old girl has been found brutally murdered in her own room, sending waves of grief and fear throughout the area.
The victim, whose identity is yet to be officially released, was discovered lifeless with severe head injuries, believed to have been inflicted with a cutlass. According to eyewitnesses and residents, the incident occurred late Thursday night, leaving the community in utter shock by Friday morning.
The grisly scene, which bore signs of a violent struggle, has left neighbors and family members devastated. According to some locals, the young lady had retired to bed the previous evening and was expected to assist her mother with chores the following morning. However, when she failed to show up, concerned relatives checked her room only to make the gruesome discovery.
The Amansie West District Police Command was immediately alerted and officers quickly arrived at the scene to commence investigations. The body of the deceased has since been conveyed to the morgue for preservation and autopsy, while forensic experts gather evidence from the crime scene.
District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent David Amoako, confirmed the incident to the media and stated that the case is being treated as a suspected homicide. “We are actively investigating the matter. Preliminary examinations suggest the use of a sharp object, likely a cutlass, which caused fatal injuries to the victim’s head,” he said.
He further appealed to the general public to assist the police with any relevant information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator(s). “We urge residents who may have seen or heard anything unusual during the night of the incident to come forward. No detail is too small,” Chief Superintendent Amoako added.
The news of the murder has plunged the entire Nweneso community into mourning, with many residents expressing fear and outrage over the gruesome nature of the crime. Some called for increased police presence in the area, lamenting the growing insecurity and urging authorities to ensure justice is served.
“This is a heartbreaking and terrifying situation. How can someone do this to such a young girl in her own home?” a teary resident asked.
The family of the deceased is currently receiving support from community leaders and religious figures, as the entire community awaits answers and justice for the heinous crime.
