Hon. Wisdom Boamah Leads Free Health Screening at Abuakwa, Urges Residents to Prioritize Regular Check-Ups

The Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Wisdom Boamah, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting preventive healthcare among residents as he partnered with the Anigyeɛ Fun Club to organize a free health screening exercise for the people of Abuakwa.
The exercise, which formed part of activities marking this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, brought together medical professionals, community leaders, and hundreds of residents who took advantage of the opportunity to check their health status and receive professional medical advice. Participants were screened for breast cancer, hypertension, diabetes, malaria, and other lifestyle-related conditions.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Boamah stressed the importance of early detection and regular medical check-ups in preventing serious illnesses. He explained that good health remains the foundation for community development and individual productivity, urging residents to make their well-being a top priority. He advised the people of Abuakwa to make periodic visits to health facilities a routine practice to ensure early detection of diseases. “Take good care of your health to avoid future illnesses. Regular medical check-ups help detect diseases early, making treatment easier and more effective,” Hon. Boamah emphasized.

The MCE commended Anigyeɛ Fun Club for initiating the health screening program, describing it as a noble and impactful gesture that complements the government’s efforts to improve access to healthcare. He encouraged other youth and community-based organizations to replicate such health initiatives in their respective communities to help sustain public health awareness and preventive healthcare practices.

The Queen Mother of Nkawie Kumaa, Ohene Yere Adoma Akosua, who graced the occasion, also urged residents—especially women—to visit hospitals regularly for health screening. She highlighted that early detection of diseases is key to effective treatment and long-term wellness. “Go to the hospital for screening every month to know your illness status for easy identification and early treatment,” she advised.

Medical professionals present at the event offered education on breast self-examination techniques, healthy dietary practices, and lifestyle management. Educational leaflets on breast cancer prevention and general health maintenance were distributed to participants to enhance community knowledge about preventive healthcare.

Residents of Abuakwa expressed deep appreciation to the MCE and the Anigyeɛ Fun Club for bringing such a crucial health initiative to their doorstep. Many participants described the exercise as timely, especially for those who cannot regularly afford medical check-ups due to financial constraints.
The free health screening exercise forms part of Hon. Boamah’s broader vision to promote community health and strengthen the culture of preventive medicine in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality. He reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to sustaining similar outreach programs to ensure that residents live healthier and more productive lives.
