In a significant move to enhance healthcare delivery in Manso Adubia, the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Peter Awereh, together with his Unit Committee members, has donated ten modern hospital beds, valued at millions of Ghana Cedis, to the Manso Adubia Health Centre. The donation aims to address infrastructural gaps and improve patient care within the community.

The new beds, presented to the male ward of the facility, are intended to replace outdated wooden beds that have long been in use. According to Hon. Awereh, the old beds posed serious hygiene and comfort concerns, often harboring bedbugs that negatively impacted patients receiving treatment.

Speaking during the donation, Hon. Awereh emphasized that the initiative was driven by the need to modernize the facility and ensure quality healthcare for all residents. “We are in a modern era, and our health facilities must reflect that. These beds are not only hygienic but also multifunctional, capable of supporting medical procedures such as intravenous infusions—something the old wooden beds could not provide,” he noted.

Hon. Awereh urged the management of the health centre to maintain the beds properly and stressed that they should be accessible to all patients, rather than being reserved for protocol or preferential use. He also assured the facility’s management of his continued support, encouraging them to promptly report any defects or challenges associated with the beds for swift intervention.

While expressing gratitude for the donation, Mr. Thomas Adjei, the Deputy Physician Assistant at the health centre, highlighted some ongoing challenges confronting the facility. He noted that the centre is experiencing shortages of essential logistics, particularly the absence of a reliable standby generator to ensure uninterrupted power supply. He also pointed out issues related to inadequate staffing, poor internal road networks, and erosion affecting parts of the compound, all of which impede effective service delivery.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Amansie South District Health Directorate, Dr. Ofosu Kwabi Nasas, the District Director of Health, commended Hon. Awereh and his Unit Committee for their timely and impactful contribution. He assured that the beds would be used for their intended purpose and maintained properly while encouraging other stakeholders to emulate such acts in supporting healthcare development within the district.

The donation, valued at millions of Ghana Cedis, marks a meaningful step toward addressing immediate infrastructural challenges at the Manso Adubia Health Centre and underscores the crucial role of community leadership in promoting local development and improved health outcomes.
