Hon. Peter Awere Donates 10,000 Exercise Books to Enhance Learning in Amansie South
The drive to promote quality education in the Amansie South District has received a significant boost following a generous intervention by the Assembly Member for the Manso Adubia Electoral Area, Hon. Peter Awere. In collaboration with the Unit Committee, he has presented 10,000 exercise books and 1,000 pens to school children across both basic and second-cycle institutions in the district.

The presentation, which attracted education stakeholders, p arents, and students, was described as a timely relief for many families who struggle to meet the cost of learning materials. Hon. Awereh, in his address, said education remains the most powerful tool for community transformation, stressing that every child deserves the chance to succeed regardless of their economic background. He explained that the donation was not only to support learning but also to inspire other stakeholders, philanthropists, and institutions to join hands in promoting education in the district.

He urged the beneficiary students to make good use of the materials and remain focused on their studies. According to him, the government’s Free Senior High School policy has opened the door for many young people, but communities must complement this effort with initiatives that provide equal opportunities for brilliant but needy students. Hon. Awereh further emphasized that the responsibility of raising educated and responsible citizens must be shared among leaders, parents, and the wider community.

The Acting Deputy District Director of Education, Mr. Mathias Kyeremanten Antwi, lauded the initiative and described it as a remarkable demonstration of leadership and commitment to education. While commending Hon. Awereh for the gesture, he appealed to the government to urgently post more teachers to the Amansie South District. He explained that although donations such as this support the learning process, the acute shortage of teaching staff continues to undermine effective classroom instruction, and addressing this challenge would be critical to improving performance.

The donation ceremony was marked by visible excitement among the students, many of whom expressed heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Awereh and his team. For the young beneficiaries, the gesture was more than just books and pens—it represented hope, encouragement, and a reminder that their community leaders are invested in their future. Some described the intervention as timely, noting that it would help ease the financial burden on their parents while motivating them to study harder.

The event underscored the importance of collaboration between government, local leadership, and the community in advancing education. With initiatives like this, many believe Amansie South is gradually laying the foundation for a brighter educational future.
