Hon. Patrick Kwame Frimpong has been officially sworn in for his third consecutive term as Presiding Member of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), following his decisive re-election with 58 votes, representing 87.87% of the total votes cast.

The swearing-in ceremony, held today, Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Prempe Assembly Hall, was attended by Assembly members, local government officials, and other stakeholders. The event formally marked the start of Hon. Frimpong’s new term in office.
Hon. Frimpong’s re-election came after his sole contender, Ernest Baffour Ofori, withdrew from the race, allowing for a smooth and uncontested vote. Out of 66 Assembly members, 58 were present and all cast their ballots in favor of Hon. Frimpong, with none rejecting his candidacy.
Under Section 27 of the Local Governance Act 2016 (Act 936), a Presiding Member must secure at least two-thirds of votes from members present and voting. The overwhelming support for Hon. Frimpong underscores the confidence Assembly members have in his leadership and ability to guide proceedings effectively.
During his previous terms, Hon. Frimpong has been credited with maintaining decorum in Assembly meetings, fostering collaboration among members, and spearheading key development initiatives across the Kumasi metropolis. His swearing-in today reinforces continuity in leadership and stability within the Assembly.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Frimpong pledged to continue promoting transparency, good governance, and development-focused initiatives, ensuring that the Assembly remains effective in serving the people of Kumasi.
