Hon. Maxwell Amponsah Doffour Supports Constituents with Free Health Insurance Registration and Renewal at Kumawu Woraso

In a remarkable display of commitment to community welfare, the Assembly Member for the Kumawu Woraso Electoral Area in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Maxwell Amponsah Doffour, has once again organized and financed a free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewal exercise for hundreds of his constituents.
The exercise, held over the weekend, was aimed at improving healthcare accessibility for residents—particularly the aged, women, and low-income earners who often face financial challenges in renewing or obtaining their NHIS cards. This marks the second time Hon. Doffour has sponsored such an initiative, reaffirming his continuous dedication to the well-being of his people.

The event witnessed a massive turnout, as residents from all corners of the Kumawu Woraso community took advantage of the opportunity. With the full cost of the exercise borne by Hon. Doffour, an amount exceeding GH¢8,000 was spent to ensure that every eligible participant had their NHIS card either registered or renewed. The process was conducted in close collaboration with officials from the National Health Insurance Scheme office in the Sekyere Kumawu District, ensuring transparency and efficiency throughout.

Speaking to the media, Hon. Maxwell Amponsah Doffour explained that the initiative formed part of his continuous efforts to enhance the quality of life of his constituents through social interventions that prioritize health, education, and welfare. He noted that many residents—especially the vulnerable—had long been deprived of medical attention due to expired health insurance cards or the inability to afford renewal fees. By taking up this financial responsibility, he said, he sought to remove one of the major barriers preventing residents from accessing healthcare.

He further encouraged beneficiaries to make good use of their renewed health insurance cards by seeking regular medical checkups and prompt treatment whenever necessary. According to him, ensuring that constituents are covered under the NHIS is not only a step toward preventing avoidable illnesses but also an investment in a healthier and more productive community.

Residents of Kumawu Woraso expressed deep gratitude to their Assembly Member for what they described as a life-changing gesture. Many were overwhelmed with joy, praising Hon. Doffour for his compassionate leadership and unwavering commitment to their welfare.

Madam Akosua Adutwumwaa, one of the beneficiaries, said the intervention had brought great relief to many families who had struggled for years to renew their NHIS cards. She thanked the Assembly Member for thinking about the poor and showing genuine concern for his people.

Other residents shared similar sentiments, describing Hon. Maxwell Amponsah Doffour as a leader who leads by example and constantly seeks opportunities to improve the living standards of the people he represents. They commended his foresight and expressed hope that his good works would inspire other leaders to emulate his example.

The National Health Insurance Scheme remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s healthcare system, designed to make medical care accessible and affordable to all citizens. Through this latest initiative spearheaded by Hon. Doffour, many residents of Kumawu Woraso who had previously been excluded from healthcare services can now seek medical attention without financial anxiety.

The event concluded with scenes of gratitude and renewed optimism, as beneficiaries applauded their Assembly Member for his selfless service. Hon. Maxwell Amponsah Doffour’s intervention has not only brought relief to the residents of Kumawu Woraso but has also reinforced the essence of responsible and compassionate leadership at the grassroots level in the Ashanti Region.
