Hon. Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu Urges Juaben Constituents to Reject “419” Candidates, Raises Concerns Over DRIP Machines Usage

Hon. Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Juaben Constituency, has voiced her concerns about the current state of governance in the constituency. Speaking during a community engagement, she expressed dissatisfaction with the direction the constituency is being led, highlighting key issues that affect the residents of Juaben.

One of her primary concerns was the recent introduction of DRIP (Drip Irrigation Project) machines, which are meant to support the agricultural activities of farmers in the area. While she acknowledged the potential benefits of these machines in enhancing farming output, Hon. Ansu stressed that the equipment should remain free of political bias and influence. She called on authorities to avoid attaching any political party branding or affiliation to the machines. “It is true that the DRIP machines will be of good use, but there shouldn’t be any party affiliation poster on them,” she remarked, urging for neutrality so that the machines benefit all community members, regardless of their political affiliations.

Hon. Ansu further urged voters to be cautious in selecting their representatives, especially with the 2024 general elections on the horizon. She advised the electorate to reject candidates she referred to as “419”—a term commonly associated with fraud—arguing that these individuals would fail to deliver meaningful development to Juaben. According to her, such candidates only make empty promises during the campaign but have no genuine interest in the well-being of the constituency.

Additionally, Hon. Ansu raised concerns about the alleged involvement of one of the opposing candidates in illegal mining, also known as “galamsey.” She warned that the DRIP machines, which are supposed to benefit farmers, could be misused if placed in the wrong hands. “The Parliamentary candidate is alleged to be involved in galamsey activities, so the DRIP machines must be well catered for, otherwise, they might be used for his personal gain,” she cautioned.

As election fever rises, her comments have sparked significant debate among Juaben residents. With constituents keen on seeing real progress, the NDC candidate’s warnings have amplified discussions about who is best suited to represent them in Parliament.

Hon. Ansu concluded her speech by reaffirming her commitment to the development of Juaben. She promised to address key challenges, including infrastructure and youth unemployment, if given the mandate to serve. She urged voters to elect leaders with integrity, who will prioritize the needs of the people over personal gain.

Her comments have drawn attention to the critical role leadership will play in determining the future of Juaben, as residents prepare to cast their votes in the upcoming elections. Many await further clarifications from other candidates regarding their plans for the constituency.
