Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim Empowers 150 Apprentices with Tools, BizBox, and Skills Training in Kumawu

The Member of Parliament for the Kumawu Constituency, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, has officially launched an Apprenticeship-to-Master Skills Training Programme, providing tools, equipment, and BizBox packages to 150 apprentices across the constituency.

The programme, which marks the first cohort, is designed to equip young people with practical vocational skills and the necessary resources to transition from apprenticeship into independent master artisans. Beneficiaries drawn from various trades include carpenters, plumbers, hairdressers, shoemakers, glaziers, beauticians, and make-up artists.

Speaking at the launch, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim explained that the initiative is part of his ongoing commitment to youth empowerment, skills development, and economic self-reliance in the Kumawu Constituency. He disclosed that a second cohort will be rolled out later this year, targeting an additional 300 youth.

“The programme is not only about teaching skills but also about creating a ripple effect. Apprentices who complete their training will have the opportunity to mentor and train other young people in their communities,” he stated. The MP emphasized that vocational and technical skills are critical for job creation, poverty reduction, and local economic growth.

During the event, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim personally presented tools and equipment to all 150 apprentices, along with BizBox packages, which include essential business start-up items to support them in establishing and sustaining their trades. The total value of the items distributed under the programme is estimated at GH¢500,000.

He urged all beneficiaries to remain serious, disciplined, and committed to their learning. “Receiving tools and equipment is just the beginning. I will personally visit all master artisans every month to monitor progress and ensure that apprentices are applying what they have learned,” he added.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude to Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, describing the programme as life-changing. They pledged to make proper use of the tools, training, and BizBox support to become successful master artisans and contribute positively to the development of their communities.

The Apprenticeship-to-Master Skills Training Programme, through its combination of practical skills training, tools, and business support, is expected to enhance productivity, reduce youth unemployment, and empower young artisans, ultimately strengthening the local economy of the Kumawu Constituency.
