The Member of Parliament for Kumawu, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to education and youth development by donating items and cash worth over GH¢150,000 to support 400 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates within his constituency.

The donation, which forms part of his annual educational support initiative, included chop boxes, trunks, exercise books, certificates, and additional cash packages to help ease the financial burden of parents and guardians as their wards prepare to transition into Senior High Schools (SHS). The colourful ceremony was held at Kumawu, the district capital, and attracted education stakeholders, parents, teachers, and hundreds of elated students.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim expressed his heartfelt desire to see every child in Kumawu further their education beyond the basic level. He emphasized that investing in education remains one of his topmost priorities, as it is the surest path to building a brighter and prosperous future for the constituency. “It is my fervent prayer that all BECE candidates in Kumawu will continue their education to Senior High and Tertiary levels. I am fully committed to supporting that vision to become a reality,” the MP stated passionately.

According to Hon. Anim, this marks the third consecutive year he has organized such a program to motivate BECE candidates and provide relief to families who struggle to meet the financial requirements of enrolling their children into secondary school. He explained that beyond the items distributed, an additional cash amount was included to enable parents to purchase other essential prospectus items required for SHS admission. “This gesture is not only to support students but also to reduce the burden on parents and guardians. We want every child to have a fair opportunity to continue their education without financial obstacles,” he added.

The MP revealed that the initial list submitted by school authorities contained 225 candidates, but after further assessment, he personally identified over 100 additional students from impoverished backgrounds whose parents could not afford their basic educational needs. He subsequently extended the support to 50 more BECE candidates, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 400.

Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim also highlighted the importance of producing well-educated professionals in Kumawu to accelerate development in the constituency. He noted that education is the foundation upon which communities can thrive and progress, stressing that with more engineers, nurses, doctors, and teachers emerging from Kumawu, the area’s future would be far brighter. “Kumawu can only make meaningful progress if we invest in our young people and train professionals who can use their knowledge to transform our constituency. That is the vision driving this initiative,” he explained.

The event was filled with excitement as beneficiary students and parents expressed immense gratitude to the MP for his kind gesture. They described the intervention as timely and life-changing, especially at a period when many parents are struggling to meet SHS admission expenses. Some of the BECE candidates pledged to study hard and excel academically as a way of appreciating the MP’s support. “We are very grateful to Hon. Anim for this support. It came at the right time and will really help us as we prepare to enter SHS. We promise to make him and Kumawu proud,” a beneficiary student said with a smile.

Parents also commended the MP for his continuous commitment to educational advancement, describing him as a true leader who understands the needs of his people.

Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim reaffirmed his dedication to sustaining the initiative in the coming years, emphasizing that education remains the most powerful tool for transforming lives and breaking the cycle of poverty in the constituency.

The ceremony concluded with prayers and songs of appreciation, as hundreds of excited students carried home their newly acquired chop boxes, trunks, and other items—symbols of hope and opportunity for the next generation of Kumawu’s leaders.
