Hon. Dominic Bonsu Cuts Sod for GH¢160,000 Ultra-Modern 20-Seater WC Toilet Facility in Takorase

The hardworking Assembly Member for the Takorase Electoral Area in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region, Hon. Dominic Bonsu, has officially cut sod for the construction of an ultra-modern 20-seater Water Closet (WC) toilet facility for the Takorase community.

The sanitation project, which has been awarded to Hamisaac Company Limited, comes at an estimated cost of GH¢160,000 for the first phase and is expected to be completed within three months. As part of preparations for the project, a total of 4,300 blocks have already been supplied to the construction site, demonstrating the Assembly Member’s commitment to ensuring timely delivery.

The sod-cutting ceremony was well attended by traditional leaders, unit committee members, and residents of Takorase, who turned out in their numbers to support the initiative. In line with cultural practice, the traditional authorities performed rituals and poured libation to the ancestors, seeking their protection and blessings for the successful completion of the project as the contractor prepares to begin work on site.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Dominic Bonsu expressed his appreciation to the chiefs and people of Takorase for their continuous support and active participation in community development. He revealed that the toilet project is being funded jointly by the Takorase community and his personal support, adding that such collaborations are crucial for sustainable development. “This project is about restoring dignity to our people, improving sanitation, and ensuring that no one in Takorase is forced into unsafe practices again. I am deeply grateful to our chiefs, unit committee, and residents for coming together to make this a reality. With unity, we can overcome our challenges,” Hon. Bonsu stated.

Residents welcomed the project with excitement, noting that it will help address long-standing sanitation problems and reduce open defecation, which has exposed the community to health risks for many years. Community leaders praised Hon. Bonsu for his foresight, describing him as a tireless and dedicated Assembly Member whose leadership continues to bring progress to the area.

The sod-cutting for the 20-seater WC toilet facility is expected to significantly improve hygiene and public health in Takorase. For many residents, the ceremony—blessed by both traditional rites and community solidarity—marks the beginning of a new chapter in the fight for better sanitation and development in the community.
