Hon. Boachie De-Graft Maxwell Unveils State-of-the-Art Sports Complex and Sanitation Projects in Dunkura

In a groundbreaking ceremony that drew wide community participation, Hon. Boachie De-Graft Maxwell, Assembly Member for the December Dunkura Electoral Area and Presiding Member of the Bosome Freho District Assembly, has commissioned a state-of-the-art sports complex and other essential infrastructure projects at Dunkura in the Ashanti Region.
The newly commissioned sports facility, named the Nana Antwi Bosiako I Sports Complex, is the first of its kind in the entire Bosome Freho District. It is equipped with two multi-purpose courts capable of hosting volleyball, tennis, netball, basketball, and handball activities.
Hon. Boachie, in his address to the enthusiastic crowd, described the project as a dream come true for the youth of Dunkura and beyond. “This facility is not just about sports—it’s about giving the youth a reason to dream, to train, and to excel,” he said. “It marks the beginning of a series of developments aimed at transforming our community.”
He disclosed that the GH¢53,000 project represents the first phase of a broader plan to expand access to sports and recreational facilities throughout the Bosome Freho District. He urged residents, especially the youth, to adopt a strong maintenance culture to protect the investment.
The event was also marked by the commissioning of a six-seater biodigester toilet facility at the Dunkura R/C Primary School. The project was a donation from the family of the late Obaapanin Catherine A. Boatemaa, made in her loving memory to promote hygiene and sanitation among schoolchildren. Teachers, pupils, and parents alike praised the gesture, noting its importance in improving health and learning conditions at the school.
In a show of support for women’s empowerment, Hon. Boachie De-Graft Maxwell also donated hair dryers and sewing machines to some women in the area. The items are expected to help recipients start or expand their small businesses, ultimately contributing to the local economy.
Sanitation in the community also received a major boost, thanks to Mr. Godfred Acheampong, Project Director of the Rotary Club of Obuasi, who donated 50 waste bins to the Assembly Member. The donation is aimed at supporting the ongoing sanitation initiatives being spearheaded by Hon. Boachie across the Dunkura area.
The occasion was graced by a large turnout, including traditional authorities, Senior High School students, basic school pupils, and residents. Among the dignitaries present were Nana Okogyeasuo Dabo Ababio II, Odikro of Dabokrom, and Okyeame Antwi Bosiako, Chief Linguist to Nana Boagyaa Chief Nana Appiagyei Danka. Both leaders expressed heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Boachie De-Graft Maxwell for his unwavering dedication to the progress of the area.
“This is a historic day for Dunkura,” said Nana Appiagyei Danka. “We are witnessing development at our doorstep, and we are thankful for the leadership that is delivering these life-changing projects.”
The commissioning ceremony marked not only a celebration of infrastructure development but also a renewed sense of community pride and optimism for the future of Dunkura and the Bosome Freho District at large.
