The District Chief Executive for Amansie South, Hon. Benjamin Marfo, in collaboration with traditional authorities (Nananom), Assembly Members, staff of the District Assembly, and residents, has led a comprehensive clean-up exercise across Manso Adubia, Nyankomase, and Kumpese communities.

The initiative forms part of the District Assembly’s renewed commitment to promoting environmental sanitation, improving public health, and fostering a culture of cleanliness and shared responsibility within the district.

The exercise witnessed active participation from community members and local leaders, who worked together to clear choked gutters, sweep public spaces, and remove refuse from key areas within the communities. The strong turnout reflected a collective determination to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

As part of measures to sustain the sanitation drive, Hon. Benjamin Marfo presented ten (10) dustbins to market women at the Manso Adubia Market women to enhance proper waste management practices. Presenting the items, the DCE urged the traders to take good care of the dustbins and ensure they are used strictly for their intended purpose.

He emphasized that environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility and encouraged residents to adopt responsible waste disposal habits to safeguard public health and preserve the environment. The DCE further noted that the exercise forms part of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) agenda to reset Ghana through practical community-based interventions and improved local governance.

In addition to the donation to the market women, Hon. Benjamin Marfo also presented five (5) dustbins to the Manso Kumpese community to further promote sanitation and support effective waste management in the area.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the community, the Assembly Member for Manso Adubia, Hon. Peter Awere, expressed profound appreciation to the DCE and the District Assembly for their continued support. He assured the DCE that the dustbins would be properly maintained and effectively utilized to improve sanitation in the market.

The Gyaasehene of Manso Adubia also conveyed gratitude to the District Assembly for spearheading the exercise and reaffirmed the community’s commitment to sustaining cleanliness efforts. Similarly, the Queen Mother of the Adubia Market, Madam Margaret Amofa, thanked the DCE for the intervention and pledged that the market women would take full responsibility for protecting the dustbins to ensure they serve their intended purpose.

The clean-up exercise underscores the Amansie South District Assembly’s dedication to community engagement, environmental protection, and sustainable development, reinforcing the importance of collective action in building healthier and more resilient communities.
