Hon. Ayaba Nelson Champions Education as Tool to End Poverty in Ahafo Ano South East

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South East, Hon. Issah Ayaba Nelson, has underscored the importance of education as the most powerful weapon in the fight against poverty and social inequality within the district and the country at large.
He made this passionate call during a thank-you tour at Nsuta in the Ahafo Ano South East District, where he was joined by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman and the Member of Parliament for the area. The event was aimed at engaging residents, expressing appreciation for their continuous support, and discussing key developmental issues affecting the district.
Addressing a large gathering of parents, youth, and community leaders, Hon. Ayaba Nelson stated that education remains the surest path toward transforming lives, building strong families, and developing prosperous communities. He stressed that for Ahafo Ano South East to achieve meaningful progress, every parent must see the education of their children as both a personal and communal responsibility.
“The only way to bridge the poverty gap in Ahafo Ano South East and to produce responsible and God-fearing leaders is to invest in the education of our children. When we train them well, we are shaping a better future not only for them but for the entire district,” Hon. Ayaba Nelson said.
The DCE expressed concern that many talented children in the district are unable to reach their full potential due to lack of parental support and inadequate attention to education. He therefore urged parents to make sacrifices, however difficult, to ensure that their children remain in school and acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in life.
“Education is the greatest inheritance we can ever give our children. It opens doors of opportunity, breaks generational poverty, and builds character. No matter how challenging things may be, let us continue to support our children’s education,” he added passionately.
Hon. Ayaba Nelson also revealed that the Assembly, in collaboration with key stakeholders, is working toward the establishment of a Nursing Training College in the district. This initiative, he explained, forms part of efforts to expand access to tertiary education, equip the youth with employable skills, and provide professional training opportunities in the health sector.
He noted that the proposed Nursing Training College would not only boost human resource development but also reduce youth unemployment and improve healthcare delivery within the Ahafo Ano South East District.
“Very soon, our district will have its own Nursing Training College to help train our young people in the nursing profession. This will create more job opportunities and reduce the financial burden on parents who send their children outside the district for such training,” he revealed.
Hon. Ayaba Nelson reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving educational infrastructure, enhancing teaching and learning conditions, and supporting initiatives that promote literacy and skills development. He also commended teachers and education officers in the district for their dedication and contribution to shaping the lives of the younger generation.
He called for greater collaboration between parents, educators, and traditional authorities to collectively uphold education as a cornerstone of development and a vital tool for ending poverty in the district. “When we invest in education, we invest in the future of our people. Together, we can lift Ahafo Ano South East out of poverty and set the district on a path of sustainable growth and progress,” he concluded.
