A UK based businesswoman Josephine Afriyie has been enstooled as the Krontihemaa at Techimantia-Subriso in the Tano South municipality of the Ahafo region in Ghana.
With the stool name Nana Hemaa Abena Afriyie I, she becomes the first female to occupy the stool after male dominance.
She ascended the stool after all the necessary customary rites have been performed and accepted by Subriso king-makers after her nomination.
Dressed in a war-smock attire, Nana Hemaa Abena Afriyie I pledged the oath of allegiance to the Odikro of Subriso, Nana Adawia III, the elders and the entire community.
After the swearing in, Nana Hemaa Abena Afriyie I expressed her gratitude to the chiefs and elders of Subriso for the endorsement and reposing their trust in her.
As a honour to serve the community Nana Hemaa Abena Afriyie I pledged to assist the chiefs and the elders to develop the community.
The enstoolment ceremony took place at the Subriso Royal Palace on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, and was attended by the chiefs, elders, and the residents both in nearby communities.
Her enstoolment as the first Krontihemaa of Subriso is a significant milestone not only to herself but also for the community.
It underscores the traditional leadership and cultural heritage at Subriso and the entire Ahafo region.
