Heavy downpour wreaks havoc in parts of Western Region

The recent heavy rains have wreaked havoc in most parts of the Western Region. Some areas in Wassa Akropong in the Amenfi East District, EwusiJoe in the Ahanta West District and Adum Domenase in the Mpohor District got flooded affecting some residents.

Speaking in an interview with the NADMO Director of Wassa Amenfi East Nana Kumi on the breakfast show with Naomi Afriyie Nyanor, he outlined the causes of the flood.

According to him, members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) created culverts in the vicinity of Akropong which they were cautioned to stop but did not pay heed to and this was a cause of the flood.

He said the action of the church members together with illegal mining activities caused the flood. He further said, residents of the areas also play a major role by disposing of waste inappropriately.

Nana Kumi also noted that per reports received, about five to six areas of Akropong were flooded yesterday and about 40-50 buildings were affected.

He, therefore, entreats all residents to watch how they dispose of waste and construct buildings.
