The Minister for Health,Hon  Kwabena Minta Akandor, has officially inaugurated the Advisory Boards of Health Training Institutions in the Southern Zone, marking a significant step toward strengthening governance and accountability within the country’s health education sector.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Tuesday, underscored the government’s renewed commitment to improving the quality and management of health training institutions across the zone. Addressing members of the newly constituted boards, the Minister described their appointment as a “clear call to duty,” emphasizing the critical role they are expected to play in shaping the future of healthcare delivery in Ghana.

According to the Minister, the effectiveness of health training institutions hinges on strong leadership, discipline, and a shared sense of responsibility among stakeholders. He urged board members to demonstrate unwavering commitment and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
“This responsibility demands dedication, discipline, and accountability to ensure that the Reset Agenda of John Dramani Mahama remains firmly on course across all our health training institutions,” he stated.


The Advisory Boards are expected to provide strategic guidance, oversight, and policy direction to the institutions under their jurisdiction. Their work will include ensuring adherence to academic standards, improving infrastructure, and fostering innovation in health training to meet the evolving needs of the country’s healthcare system.
The inauguration forms part of broader efforts by the government to reposition the health sector through enhanced training and capacity building. By strengthening institutional governance, authorities aim to produce highly skilled and competent health professionals capable of delivering quality care nationwide.


The Minister expressed confidence in the ability of the board members to deliver on their mandate, noting that their contributions will be instrumental in achieving sustainable improvements in Ghana’s healthcare delivery system.
