The Amansie West district health directorate of GHS, has expressed fear over the spate at which Anaemia infection is fast spreading in the district.
According to the district health director, Mr. Bernard Badu Bediako, the health directorate recorded 32.2% rate of the disease in the first quarter of the year, of which majority of them are pregnant women, a situation he said is very alarming.

Speaking at a day program to educate the residents on the disease at Manso Abodom, Mr. Badu blamed residents in the district for the situation.

According to him, most of the residents especially pregnant women, refuse to attend to anti-natal care for check ups and treatment.
“I am very disturbed with how Anaemia is rising in this our district but will charge the people for that because they have refused to attend to the hospital for check ups”.
The health personnel has therefore advised the people especially pregnant women not to hesitate to attend to the hospital for regular check ups to prevent being infected.
Mr Bernard Badu Bediako further lamented over the bad nature of roads leading to the health centers in the district, adding that the people have been using that as a basis for their refusal to attend hospital.
He therefore asked the government and other stakeholders to attend to their aid to maintain the roads to ease stress on the people.
“I believe the people will start attending hospital regularly if the road is fixed”
He seized the opportunity to appealed residents in the Amansie west district to Join hands in the fight against prevention of Anaemia among pregnant women in the Amansie west district.
Meanwhile, the chief of Manso Abodom-domi Nana Opoku Gyamfi urged the Amansie West district health service to be up and doing in their fight against the spread of infectious disease.
