Hajia Abibata Shanni, NPP parliamentary aspirant for the Yendi constituency, has petitioned the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) to order fresh elections.
This follows the chaos that marred the January 27 poll in the constituency.
The CEO of MASLOC has also called on the National Executive Council, the highest body of the NPP, to declare the elections “null and void.”
The petition was submitted with video evidence of the chaos that marred the elections in her constituency.
Hajia Abibata has also asked NEC to restrain the incumbent MP, Mr Mahama, from holding himself as the MP-elect for the constituency.
Based on the evidence adduced in the petition, Hajia Abibata is demanding the following from NEC:
Declare that neither the 3rd Vice Chairman, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, nor
any party executive, party officer, nor any government appointee has the mandate to conduct or declare results or winner of the NPP Parliamentary Primaries of the Yendi Constituency held on the 27th of January 2024.
Declare that the illegitimate declaration of Hon. Farouk Aliu Mahama by
Alhaji Masawudu Osman (3rd National Vice Chairman) as the winner of the
2024 NPP Parliamentary Primaries for Yendi Constituency on the 27th of January 2024 is null, void and of no effect whatsoever. And he, as a National Officer should be sanctioned for disregarding party protocols.
All EC officers who were complicit in the process should be sanctioned by
the EC.
