GoldBOD Strengthens Ties with Amansie West Through High-Impact Community Projects

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBOD) has reinforced its commitment to community development in mining areas with a strategic engagement in the Amansie West District. Senior executives of GoldBOD paid a courtesy visit to the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Prince M. Manu, at the District Assembly, marking a significant step in fostering partnerships that translate mining resources into tangible social and infrastructural benefits for local communities.
During the visit, GoldBOD presented three major development project options for consideration under its corporate social responsibility framework. The options include a state-of-the-art hospital, a comprehensive water and sanitation improvement initiative, and a modern educational facility designed to enhance teaching and learning outcomes within the district. Each project is aimed at addressing critical gaps in healthcare, water accessibility, sanitation, and education, ensuring long-term social impact for the residents of Amansie West.
The proposed hospital project is intended to provide advanced medical services, including emergency care, maternal and child health units, diagnostic services, and outpatient treatment. Such a facility would significantly reduce the need for residents to travel outside the district for specialised healthcare, improving access and health outcomes for thousands of community members.
The water and sanitation initiative seeks to tackle persistent challenges associated with inadequate potable water and sanitation infrastructure. GoldBOD’s plan encompasses mechanised boreholes, expanded water distribution networks, construction of hygienic public toilets, and community-based hygiene programs. These interventions aim to mitigate waterborne diseases and enhance the overall quality of life across multiple communities within the district.
The third project option focuses on education, proposing the establishment of a modern school complex equipped with ICT laboratories, well-ventilated classrooms, staff accommodations, and learning support spaces. This project is designed to uplift educational standards, encourage student achievement, and support teachers with improved infrastructure and teaching resources.
Hon. Prince M. Manu expressed profound appreciation to GoldBOD for the initiative, describing it as a strong demonstration of corporate social responsibility and a testament to the organisation’s commitment to sustainable development. He noted that the District Assembly would conduct a thorough evaluation of the three options to determine which project best aligns with the district’s immediate needs and long-term developmental priorities.
Local community leaders and residents have warmly welcomed GoldBOD’s gesture, acknowledging the organisation’s efforts to translate mining revenue into meaningful development. They expressed optimism that the selected project would address pressing community challenges, stimulate socio-economic growth, and leave a lasting impact on the lives of residents.
GoldBOD executives reaffirmed their commitment to responsible mining and inclusive development, stressing that these projects form part of a broader national agenda to ensure mining communities benefit equitably from the country’s mineral resources. They emphasised that strategic partnerships with district authorities are central to achieving sustainable and high-impact outcomes.
The visit marks a milestone in the ongoing collaboration between GoldBOD and the Amansie West District Assembly. With the Assembly expected to select the project that most effectively meets community needs, residents are hopeful that the initiative will usher in a new era of health, education, and sanitation improvements, thereby enhancing the district’s overall development trajectory.
