GoldBOD Presents Major Development Projects to Amansie West District Authorities

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBOD) has taken a significant step toward strengthening development partnerships within mining communities as its executive team paid a courtesy call on the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie West, Hon. Prince M. Manu. The engagement, held at the District Assembly offices, forms part of GoldBOD’s broader strategy to collaborate with local authorities and ensure that mining activities translate into tangible community development.
During the visit, the executives of GoldBOD unveiled three major project options from which the district can select under the institution’s corporate social responsibility framework. The district was given the opportunity to choose between a modern hospital facility, a comprehensive water and sanitation improvement project, and a state-of-the-art educational facility tailored to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
According to GoldBOD, the proposed hospital project aims to significantly improve access to quality healthcare, reduce referral pressures on neighbouring districts, and support maternal, child, and emergency care in the area. The water and sanitation project, if selected, will address longstanding challenges of limited clean water access and inadequate sanitation systems across several communities. Alternatively, the educational facility project is designed to deliver a modern learning environment, fully equipped with ICT resources, spacious classrooms, and conducive teaching infrastructure for the growing youth population.
Hon. Prince M. Manu, together with the District Assembly’s leadership, expressed appreciation to GoldBOD for the thoughtful initiative. He indicated that the Assembly would carefully assess the three options to determine which project aligns most effectively with the immediate developmental priorities of the district. He described the gesture as timely and impactful, noting that Amansie West continues to experience developmental pressures due to population growth, infrastructural gaps, and the socio-economic dynamics associated with mining activities.
Residents of Amansie West have also welcomed the initiative, describing it as a demonstration of genuine commitment by GoldBOD to contribute meaningfully to the welfare of mining communities. Many community leaders commended the agency for going beyond regulatory oversight and investing in sustainable development interventions that will serve generations.
GoldBOD executives reaffirmed their dedication to supporting mining districts through collaborative development efforts, stating that the organisation remains committed to promoting responsible mining and ensuring that resource-rich communities benefit directly from the sector’s contributions.
The visit marks a renewed chapter in stakeholder engagement between GoldBOD and the Amansie West District, setting the stage for a transformative project that promises lasting social and economic impact. The district’s final selection is expected to guide implementation timelines and pave the way for improved living conditions for thousands of residents.
