GoldBOD Partners Amansie West District in Landmark Community Development Initiative

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBOD) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting sustainable development in mining communities with a landmark engagement in the Amansie West District. Senior executives of GoldBOD recently paid a courtesy visit to the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Prince M. Manu, at the District Assembly to present three transformative project options aimed at improving health, education, and water infrastructure in the district.
During the engagement, GoldBOD presented the district with three carefully considered development initiatives under its corporate social responsibility program. The options include a state-of-the-art hospital facility, a comprehensive water and sanitation project, and a modern educational facility designed to enhance learning outcomes and create a conducive environment for students and teachers.
The hospital project is designed to address the district’s critical healthcare challenges. If selected, the facility will provide residents with access to advanced medical services including emergency care, maternal and child health services, laboratory and diagnostic facilities, and specialised treatment units. This development is expected to reduce the dependency on distant hospitals and significantly improve health outcomes for communities within the district.
The water and sanitation project seeks to improve access to clean water and modern sanitation infrastructure, addressing a long-standing public health concern. GoldBOD’s proposal includes the installation of mechanised boreholes, expansion of water distribution networks, construction of hygienic public toilets, and community hygiene education programs. The initiative is designed to curb waterborne diseases, promote healthy living, and improve environmental conditions in the district.
The educational facility option focuses on providing a modern, well-equipped school complex with ICT laboratories, spacious classrooms, staff offices, and learning support spaces. This project aims to enhance the quality of education, foster academic excellence, and support teacher retention while creating a safe and conducive learning environment for students.
Hon. Prince M. Manu expressed sincere gratitude to GoldBOD for the initiative, describing it as a landmark gesture of corporate social responsibility. He assured that the District Assembly would conduct a thorough assessment of the three project options to select the initiative that best aligns with the district’s immediate priorities and long-term developmental goals. According to the DCE, the selected project will deliver lasting impact and significantly improve the livelihoods of residents.
Residents and community leaders have welcomed the initiative, applauding GoldBOD’s commitment to addressing the pressing infrastructural and social needs of mining communities. Many highlighted that the projects, once implemented, will have transformative effects on health, education, and sanitation, contributing to the district’s overall socio-economic growth.
GoldBOD executives emphasized that these initiatives are part of a broader national strategy to ensure that mining communities directly benefit from Ghana’s mineral resources while promoting sustainable and responsible development. They reaffirmed their dedication to supporting projects that create tangible, long-term improvements for residents.
The visit has laid the foundation for a pivotal decision-making process, with the District Assembly expected to evaluate and select the project that best addresses community needs. Once implemented, the chosen initiative promises to usher in significant social and economic benefits for Amansie West District, setting a benchmark for sustainable community development across Ghana’s mining regions.
