Network for Assin Development collaboration with Gold star Airline has donated 200 pieces of blocks and 15 bags of cement to Assin Brofoyedru M/A Basic School in the Assin Central Municipality in the Central region.
The donation forms part of the NGO’s support of helping the school to rehabilitate the JHS Block which collapsed some time ago as a result of a heavy downpour.
The President for Network Development Mr. Samuel Adobah noted that the government cannot shoulder all the responsibilities facing the country; hence there is a need to join hands in order to help alleviate the burden.
Mr. Adobah expressed worries about the manner in which school children in rural areas are being deprived of quality education.
” But at the end, they all sit in one examination hall to write the same examination with their colleagues in the urban area.
This made it difficult for rural students to compete with those in the cities due to their poor academic foundations.
Children must not be denied quality education if truly we want to create a better society for them,” he expressed worry.
He, therefore, urged the government and relevant stakeholders in the education sector to take a critical look at the needs of students in deprived areas to help them have access to quality education as well.
He also entreated parents and guidance to endeavour to take full responsibility for the needs of their wards since they are future leaders.
However, admonished the students not to engage in immoral acts and rather focus on their education.
Mr. Adobah also seized the golden opportunity to express his profound gratitude to the CEO of Gold star Airline Mr. Eric Bannerman for his unflinching support.
The Project Coordinator Rev. Stephen Arthur hinted that the aim of the Network is to push for development projects in the Municipality and in the country as well.
The Assembly Member for Nyankomase/ Brofoyedur, Hon Bismark Obeng Donkoh who graced the occasion on behalf of chiefs and elders received the items and thanked the Network for Assin Development for their support.
Assuring them that they will use the items judiciously in order to achieve the desired results.
The Headmaster of the School, Mr. Frank Preprah in elation expressed his gratitude to the Network for coming to their aid.
He, therefore, seized the opportunity to appeal to the government, individuals, and the Civil Society Organizations to come to their aid to help them rehabilitate their KG block which is in a deplorable state.
