GNFS Swiftly Rescues 16 After Fiery Head-On Collision at Nyamebekyere

Sixteen individuals have been rescued following a dramatic head-on collision between a Ford Transit and a Kia Rhino at Nyamebekyere on the Sunyani–Kumasi highway early this morning, November 18, 2025.
According to reports from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), a distress call was received at approximately 5:38 a.m., prompting a swift response from the Bechem Fire Station. An eight-member rescue team, led by STNO II Simon Yeboah, quickly arrived at the scene, where both vehicles had sustained extensive damage.

The team successfully extricated all sixteen occupants—fourteen from the Ford Transit (registration AS 7172-23) and two from the Kia Rhino (registration AS 3058-X)—and transported them to the Bechem Government Hospital and PISGAH Advanced Medical Center for treatment. Fortunately, despite the severity of the crash, no fatalities were recorded.

A statement from the Ahafo Regional Public Relations Officer emphasized the professionalism and efficiency of the GNFS team, noting that their quick intervention prevented what could have been a far more tragic outcome. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the relevant authorities.

The GNFS continues to urge road users to exercise caution, particularly on highways, to prevent similar accidents in the future.
