The President of the Ghana Journalists Association, Albert Dwumfour, together with executives of its Ashanti Regional branch, has paid a condolence visit to the management of Despite Media Company following the death of a staff member, Samuel Aguuri.

Mr Aguuri passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, after a short illness.

His death has left colleagues and members of the media fraternity in shock.

In a statement signed by Beatrice Spio-Garbrah, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the association, the GJA extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and staff of Hello FM and UTV Ghana, where the late Mr Aguuri worked.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and the entire media fraternity,” the statement read. “May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may God grant comfort and strength to all who mourn his loss.”

Colleagues described him as dedicated and professional, noting that his contribution to broadcasting would be remembered.

Sympathisers have been invited to attend his final funeral rites scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The ceremony will take place at Twapiase Roman Catholic Church Park, near Obuasi.

The GJA urged members of the association and the wider media community to stand in solidarity with the family during this period of grief.
