Ghana Timber Trade and Industry Association: 15 Associations Unite to Endorse Constitution and MoU
In a historic gathering, fifteen member associations under the Ghana Timber Trade and Industry Association (GTTIA) have formally endorsed the Association’s Constitution and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a major milestone in the unification and regulation of Ghana’s timber trade sector.

The event, held in Ejisu Akyawkrom forestry Training Center,brought together representatives from all fifteen associations, who officially approved and signed the guiding documents. The endorsement signals a shared commitment among stakeholders to uphold transparency, professionalism, and sustainable practices in the timber industry.

Alexander Kingsfred Dadzie, Acting President of GTTIA, welcomed the delegates and described the moment as a “turning point in consolidating the collective voice of Ghana’s timber traders.” He emphasized that the Constitution and MoU would serve as the cornerstone for collaboration, dispute resolution, and strategic development within the sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, several association leaders reiterated the importance of unity in addressing industry challenges, including sustainable forest management, policy advocacy, and value chain development. “By coming together, we strengthen our position and ensure that the timber trade contributes meaningfully to Ghana’s economic growth,” one leader noted.

The formal approval and signing of the Constitution and MoU reflect a renewed dedication by industry stakeholders to professionalize the timber trade, enhance compliance, and foster inclusive growth. This historic endorsement is expected to set a benchmark for other trade associations in Ghana and reinforce the country’s commitment to sustainable forestry practices.
