In a significant move to enhance agricultural education and capacity development, the Government of Ghana, represented by Hon. Eric Opoku, Minister of Agriculture, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GIDA VE TARIM University in Turkey. The agreement, made on behalf of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, underscores the government’s commitment to investing in the human capital of Ghana’s agro-industrial sector.
The MoU establishes a collaborative framework aimed at providing Ghanaian students with scholarship opportunities to pursue academic and professional training in agriculture. This initiative is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in modern agricultural practices, ultimately strengthening Ghana’s agricultural productivity and sustainability.
GIDA VE TARIM University, a prestigious institution known for its excellence in agricultural studies, will offer scholarships across various agriculture-related programs. The partnership focuses on fostering capacity building, technical expertise, and professional development for Ghanaian students, ensuring they are well-prepared to contribute to the growth of the nation’s agro-industrial sector.
Hon. Eric Opoku highlighted that the collaboration reflects the government’s dedication to empowering the next generation of agriculturists. “Through this MoU, we are creating avenues for Ghanaian students to acquire advanced agricultural skills and knowledge, which will serve as a catalyst for the growth and modernization of our agro-industrial sector,” he stated.
The partnership also aims to promote knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and innovation in agricultural practices between Ghana and Turkey, enhancing the country’s capacity to adopt modern farming techniques and agribusiness models.
