An 11-year-old girl who was taken hostage in Kumasi by two unidentified males has been liberated by the Ghana Police Service.
The victim, a student at Akrofuom Primary School, was found in a room of an unfinished Methodist church in Akrofuom, in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality, with her hands bound and her eyes covered.
The girl’s murmurs attracted a local resident within the structure, who called the police, who arrived to save the girl.
The police believe the abductors kept her in the unfinished structure with the intention of removing her after the sun had gone down when the town would be completely dark.
The girl claims that on Thursday, July 28, 2022, she was abducted by two males she encountered on the way home from school.
Her parents made every effort to rescue her but to no avail.
She was confined to the unfinished structure while bound to her hands and mouth.
Fortunately, at about 6:45, someone passing by heard the girl mumbling and stopped to investigate the building to find out what was happening inside.
According to the authorities, an investigation has begun in an effort to apprehend the two kidnappers.
After being rescued, the girl was sent to Toase Government Hospital for medical care.
