The President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has held bilateral talks with the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, as part of the latter’s three-day State Visit to Ghana.

The high-level engagement, which took place on Thursday, April 2, 2026, formed a key component of official activities aimed at deepening diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations. The meeting underscored a shared commitment by both leaders to elevate Ghana–Zimbabwe relations to a higher level for the mutual benefit of their citizens.

During the discussions, the two Presidents explored a broad range of issues critical to national and continental development. These included cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, energy, education, and regional security. Both leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening South-South cooperation and fostering strategic partnerships that promote sustainable economic growth across Africa.

President Mahama reiterated Ghana’s readiness to collaborate more closely with Zimbabwe in key sectors, highlighting opportunities for knowledge exchange, technological advancement, and private sector engagement. He stressed that enhanced bilateral cooperation would not only benefit both countries but also contribute to broader African integration efforts under frameworks such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

President Mnangagwa, on his part, expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his delegation. He reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to building stronger ties with Ghana, noting that the two countries share historical bonds rooted in the pan-African vision of unity, self-reliance, and economic transformation.

The bilateral talks are expected to pave the way for the signing of new agreements and memoranda of understanding in areas of mutual interest, further consolidating the longstanding relationship between Ghana and Zimbabwe.

The State Visit continues with a series of engagements, including business forums and cultural exchanges, aimed at strengthening people-to-people connections and unlocking new opportunities for collaboration between the two countries.
