The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced that all basic schools across the country will observe a mid-term break from Monday, 9th March, to Tuesday, 10th March 2026.

The announcement comes immediately following the nation’s Independence Day celebrations on Friday, 6th March, which traditionally involve active participation from schools across Ghana. According to GES, the two-day break is intended to provide both pupils and teachers with a short period of rest before academic activities resume.

Classes are scheduled to recommence on Wednesday, 11th March 2026.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Friday, 27th February, the GES reminded school authorities, parents, and guardians to take note of the mid-term break dates and ensure that students return to school promptly. The service emphasized that adherence to the schedule is crucial to maintaining the continuity of teaching and learning.

The GES further urged stakeholders to use the break responsibly, encouraging pupils to engage in educational and recreational activities that enhance learning while allowing for adequate rest.

This mid-term break forms part of the GES’s calendar designed to balance academic rigor with periods of rest and reflection, ensuring that students maintain both their academic performance and overall well-being.
