Galamsey Activities Disrupt Water Treatment at Daboase

Ing. Mark Doe, the Chief Manager of Ghana Water Company Treatment Plant at Daboase in the Wassa East District of the Western Region says, the production of water to serve its customers has become difficult as the activities of galamsey are interfering with their activities.

According to him, the turbidity level of the River Pra is very high thus a lot of slits are deposited around the intake area of the treatment plant.

He reckoned that the company has increased the chemicals used in treating the water, adding that they can no longer draw water for treatment.

He says this could result in water shortage in the region.
