Five(5) Churches In Ghana That Have Produced All The Presidents In Ghana’s History

Speaking about churches in Ghana, there are thousands of churches in Ghana. The country is tagged to be a Christian country with over 70% of the population being Christians.

Ghana has never had a Muslim president since its independence in 1957. There is however a high probability that Ghana’s incumbent vice president will be Ghana’s first Muslim president.

In today’s article, let us find out the five churches in Ghana that have produced all the presidents in Ghana’s history.

 

#1. Roman Catholic Church

This church has produced most presidents in Ghana’s history. John Agyekum Kuffour, John Jerry Rawlings, Ignatius Kutu Acheampong, Hilla Limann and Dr. Kwame Nkrumah were all members of this church when they became presidents. Roman has produced the most presidents in Ghana’s history.

#2. Presbyterian Church Of Ghana.

This is one of the most popular churches in Ghana. Edward Akuffo Addo, Nii Amaa Odennu and Fred Akuffo were all members of this church when they became Presidents. This church has produced three presidents in Ghana’s history.

 

#3. Methodist Church Of Ghana

John Evans Atta Mills, Joseph Ankrah and Kofi Abrefa Bussia were all parts of this denomination when they were heads of state.

 

#4. Anglican Church

The Anglican church has produced two presidents in Ghana’s history. They include Ghana’s incumbent president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and Akwasi Afrifa.

 

#5. Assemblies Of God.

Ghana’s immediate past president, John Dramani Mahama is the only president in Ghana’s history to attend Assemblies of God church.
